Legend has it that Rome was founded by Romulus and Remus, two boys who were cast adrift down a river and found by a wolf, who then raised them. After an argument with his brother about who the city should be named after, Romulus killed his brother which resulted in Rome being named Rome and Romulus being the first king. Rome was actually built by Latins who arrived there about 1000 B.C.
Julius Caesar and Hannibal were two great generals of Rome who both conquered a lot, but were vastly different in their reputations throughout Rome. The Punic Wars that Rome involved itself in and actually started one time, expanded the empire. The Roman Colosseum was and still is a magnificent building that held some very cruel games back in ancient Rome. |
